Emirates ID services in Dubai
The card most companies forget until an employee cannot open a bank account, register a tenancy or complete a government transaction.
The Emirates ID is the identity card issued by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security. Every resident holds one, and it is required for banking, tenancy registration, telecom accounts, salary transfer registration and most government transactions.
For an employer, the Emirates ID matters because it sits inside the visa sequence. Registration and biometrics are completed before the residence visa is issued, and the card's validity is tied to the visa.
What we handle
- ICP registration as part of new employment visa processing, including the application form and fee payment
- Biometric appointment booking at an approved service centre, scheduled against the remaining validity of the entry permit
- Renewals aligned to the residence visa renewal, so the two do not drift out of step
- Replacements for lost or damaged cards, including the police report step where required
- Data corrections where a name, date of birth or nationality is recorded differently from the passport
- Cancellation on exit, completed alongside visa cancellation rather than after it
Three situations that cost companies time
The name mismatch
A passport carrying a single name, or a name ordered differently across documents, produces a card that does not reconcile with the bank record. Corrected before issue this is administrative. Corrected afterwards it touches the bank, the payroll file and sometimes the visa.
The renewal that drifts
A card renewed separately from the visa, or a visa renewed while the card sits unrenewed, leaves an employee technically resident and practically unable to transact. The register keeps both dates on the same line.
The missed biometric slot
Appointment availability is not guaranteed, and a missed slot is rebooked at whatever the next opening is. When the entry permit has days left rather than weeks, that rebooking is the difference between a completed file and a repeated one.
How Emirates ID sits in the group register
Each employee line in the register carries the visa expiry, the Emirates ID expiry, the labour card expiry and the passport expiry together. Reviewing them on one line rather than in four systems is what stops the common failure, which is renewing one and discovering the other three months later.
Emirates ID: common corporate situations
Is the Emirates ID issued before or after the residence visa?
Registration and biometrics are completed as part of the visa process, and the card follows once the residence file is complete. In practice the employee holds a registration receipt for a period before the physical card arrives, and that receipt is usually sufficient for the transactions that cannot wait.
What happens if an employee loses their Emirates ID?
A replacement is applied for through ICP. Depending on the circumstances a police report may be required, and the employee's biometrics do not normally need to be retaken. The practical advice is to report it the same week rather than waiting until it blocks something.
Does the Emirates ID expire at the same time as the visa?
It is tied to the residence visa, but the two dates can diverge after renewals, replacements or a change of employer. Assuming they match is the reason so many companies discover an expired card during an unrelated transaction.
Can the company collect the card on the employee's behalf?
Delivery and collection arrangements are set by ICP and vary by circumstance. Where collection is permitted through an authorised representative, we handle it. Where the individual must attend, we schedule it and confirm attendance.
